American Sweetheart Amy Adams Ain’t So Sweet

High above Beverly Hills, a sun the color of a vodka screwdriver gazes weakly into a suite at the Four Seasons Hotel. In walks an Amy Adams that we have not yet met. We’ve seen her in a tiara, a nun’s robe and sensible office attire. Today she is lean in tight, dark jeans, a snug T-shirt and a low-cut jacket. She tosses her signature cherry-drop hair, and thanks to a recent cold, speaks in a sultry, Lauren Bacall rasp. One can’t help but wonder if the rough, sexy speaking voice is the latest twist in a career that is traveling down some fresh asphalt. Maybe she should maintain that louche larynx by screaming in parking lots at midnight. “That would really expand my repertoire of work,” Adams says. “It could change people’s perceptions of me.”

Amy’s Oscar Doubts

Amy Adams admits she has “barely” thought about the Oscars – because she doesn’t believes she’ll win any awards.

The actress has landed a Best Supporting Actress nod for her role in Doubt. She goes up against Kate Winslet (The Reader); Penelope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona); Viola Davis (Doubt) and Marisa Tomei (The Wrestler).

And Adams is so sure Tomei will walk away victorious – she hasn’t even started looking at frocks for the red carpet yet.

“To be honest I have barely thought about it,” Amy said. “Just to be nominated was enough for me. I haven’t even tried on a single dress yet. I should probably try some on but I just can’t seem to get around to it.”

Amy, 34, recently revealed that she isn’t comfortable being called a movie star.

“I understand I have had starring roles in movies, but I am not comfortable with putting such a grand label on myself,” she told Total Film magazine.

“I used to be intimidated by Hollywood. People put a lot of time and money into films and they want someone who is confident. I don’t know if I projected that.

“I grew up in a small town where Hollywood people were stars, not human beings. It is weird to have people look at me that way. I’m like, ‘No, look, I’m in sweats! It’s all good!’ “

“Real life” took me away from my computer for a bit so I wasn’t able to post this until now. Sadly, Amy did not win tonight for her performance in Doubt. The award went to Penelope Cruz. I’m in the process of gathering some more photos so expect a gallery update within an hour or so.

edit: Over 30 new photos have been added. More coming tomorrow!

Remember that gorgeous new photoshoot I posted a couple days ago?  Well, they came from the shoot for the latest issue of LA Confidential which features brief articles on many of this year’s Academy Awards nominees.  Thanks to Tona, we have the scan of Amy’s page!  The article itself is extremely short but the photo…  stunning.  Simply stunning.  The article was scanned exclusively for Enchanting Amy so be sure to credit and link this site if you post anywhere else.  Thank you!

A request for help

I just received something very exciting in today’s mail.  The International Scholar Laureate Program has invited me to be a part of this year’s delegation group.  I will have the choice of going to China, Australia, or Eastern Europe for two weeks to participate in lectures and presentations given by various companies.  The problem is that in order to go, I will need to raise at least $6000.  The packages range from $5200-$5400 plus I would need a little spending money and the funds to get a passport.

If you can donate anything – even a little – it will help me out a lot.  I will keep careful track of all donations so in the event that I am unable to raise enough money, any donations I’ve received will be refunded.

My paypal information is xfiled97[@]comcast.net (remove the brackets)

Or you can email me for other donation options.  The best email to reach me at is fansites[@]hotmail.com

I’ve added four more photos to one of Amy’s photoshoot sessions.  The photos are gorgeous!  I’m trying to track down non-watermarked versions to replace these as soon as possible.

I’ve added over 170 screencaptures from a short interview Amy did for Extra.  I apologize about the quality – I could not find a better version of the clip.
