THE Irish film industry is getting a €21.4m boost, thanks to a new Hollywood movie starring Enchanted actress Amy Adams, which is due to start shooting in Wicklow shortly.
An LA film crew are gearing up to descend on the ‘garden of Ireland’ county and begin work on Leap Year, which has been given a massive budget to come over here to ensure the flick looks and feels authentically Irish.
Stepping into the lead role will be stunning star Adams, who was this year nominated for a best-supporting Oscar award for Doubt, alongside Matthew Goode of Watchmen fame.
Also taking on a starring role will be comedian Adam Scott, a comedy veteran most recently seen on the big screen playing opposite Will Ferrell in Step Brothers.
Crew
The new movie will be made by Spyglass Entertainment, the same crew who came here to film the Matthew McConaughey hit Reign of Fire as well as The Count of Monte Cristo.
Written by Harry Elfont, Deborah Kaplan and Simon Beaufoy, Leap Year tells the story of an American woman, played by Adams, who travels to Ireland to propose to her other half on February 29.
She then meets a friendly local innkeeper and they both set off to Dublin to find her beau.
The production team have decided to use the scenic Wicklow National Park as one of the movie’s locations, alongside Temple Bar, Connemara and the picturesque Aran Islands.
