While accepting the Spike TV Award for Guy Movie of the Year, The Fighter‘s star and godfather Mark Wahlberg reiterated his intention to take “one more run” at the Micky Ward saga with another film. In a NSFW acceptance speech, Wahlberg reminded fans that Ward’s greatest moments in the ring — his epic trilogy with the late Arturo Gatti — weren’t included in the initial film, which nevertheless earned Oscars for co-stars Christian Bale and Melissa Leo. “We left [those] fights out for a reason,” he said, “because that’s for Fighter 2. We’re not going to do Fighter 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, but we’re going to do 2.”

Good news for those of us who don’t like going to the video store! I just received an email from Stephanie at The Lippin Group letting me know that not only will The Fighter be available on DVD and BluRay on March 15th, but it will also be available via movies on demand the same day. Thank you Stephanie for letting us know.

A release date of March 15, 2011 has been set for The Fighter on DVD and BluRay. The special features are listed below.

Our friends over at ScreenSlam have posted another great video from The Fighter. This one is a short featurette where the cast and crew discuss Christian Bale’s role as Dickie. Her character is quite the little badass, a far cry from previous characters that she’s played, such as Giselle in Enchanted, and I can’t help but wonder which kind of character she relates to more. “It depends on the day you ask me! Or the time of the day!” she laughs. “I can be pretty tough. I try to have a good attitude most of the time but, yeah, I can be tough if need be.”

It’s been a busy, busy week for Amy.  And I’m loving all the recent appearances!  Earlier tonight, The Cinema Society hosted a screening of The Fighter to benefit The Cinema School. Amy was in attendance and I’ve added the first batch of photos to our gallery. I’ll post information about her outfit as soon as I find out.
