‘Sunshine Cleaning’ the series?

In his review for Sunshine Cleaning, critic Robert Wilonsky said he thought the indie film had “the markings of a great Showtime series.”Wilonsky probably had no idea execs at Showtime were thinking the same thing. The pay cabler is, indeed, in the early stages of adapting Sunshine Cleaning into a TV series.

The cable net is developing the project inhouse and has tapped Megan Holley, who wrote the screenplay to Sunshine Cleaning, to rework it for the smallscreen.

It’s highly doubtful that they would be able to get the same cast to star in the series version.  But still, I’m intrigued.  What about you guys?  Would you watch the series even if Amy isn’t in it?

Emily Blunt interview

Yes this is an interview with Emily Blunt and not Amy.  But Amy is a main focus of the interview so I thought it should be posted.

SOURCE

It was on the set of a historical drama about the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan that Emily Blunt and Amy Adams struck up a friendship that would result in a dark-humored movie about two sisters who clean up after blood-soaked corpses for a living.

Welcome to the bizarre world of Hollywood, in which alliances are forged in the most peculiar of circumstances and give birth to projects that at first make you go, “Say what?” In the case of Blunt and Adams, their first encounter took place during the filming of “Charlie Wilson’s War”—Blunt played Tom Hanks’ lover, Adams his Congressional aide—and the outcome, several years later, is the oddball gem, “Sunshine Cleaning.”

This morning Overture is crowing about some happier news. “Sunshine Cleaning,” a comedic drama starring Amy Adams and Emily Blunt that has been sitting around since two Sundance Film Festivals ago, earned $216,000 in four theaters in New York and Los Angeles over the weekend, good for an estimated $54,000 per-theater average. Overture says that is the best performance of any limited or wide release thus far in 2009, placing “Sunshine Cleaning” on track to become an indie hit.

The article then continues to say that Sunshine Cleaning will be opening in 15 more U.S. markets this Friday.

A small gallery update but it’s filled with all sorts of rare little treats.  First up are a couple scans from the newest issue of Entertainment Weekly.  Sunshine Cleaning was reviewed and there’s a two page article with a nice photo from the movie.  I’ve also added some never before seen HQ stills from three of Amy’s movies – Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Charlie Wilson’s War, and The Wedding Date.  I especially love the ones from Miss Pettigrew.  If all goes well, I should have some brand new stills from Sunshine Cleaning up within a day or two.
